A Quiet Place

Sometimes you need a quiet place
To go and be alone
Away from life’s distractions
Like your TV or your phone
A place to sit and ponder
What everything’s about
A place to find your confidence
Or battle with self-doubt
A place to hit “reset”
Or be challenged — even grow!
A place to find your footing
When you’re overwhelmed with “No”
A place for you to wonder
And wander off in dreams
Or simply smell the fresh air
And revel in sunbeams
A place where no one rules you
A place where you can see —
Without the sword of judgment —
The true you you should be

Sometimes you need a quiet place
To go and be alone...

Ripple

It only takes an acorn
To make a mighty oak
A simple seed can grow to something great
It only takes an ember
If you take the time to stoke
The burning fire within you if you wait
They say it only takes
A tiny butterfly’s wing
To cause a hurricane or change the tide
The only thing it takes
Is one voice speaking out
When it’s easier to run away and hide

It’s never ever easy
To face the world head-on
When the whole world is as crazy
As it is

Like a pebble in a stream
Cause a ripple on the surface
And let that ripple grow into a wave
Be the change you want to see
It’s up to you and me
There’s a whole wide world we need to save

It only takes one brushstroke
To start a masterpiece
The trick of it is knowing where to paint
But sitting idly by

It’s so hard to be brave
But more difficult to face
